Saamana also accused the Centre of acting with retaliatory move as Vaze was involved in the arrest of Arnab Goswami.
Mumbai Police Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Vaze has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court against his arrest. In this petition, he has termed his arrest as illegal. He also said that he was arrested by the NIA only on the basis of suspicion and the agency did not follow the rules. The High Court has accepted the petition, but it is not yet clear when the case will come up for hearing. He has been arrested in the case of Scorpio vehicle with gelatin sticks and threat letter recovered from outside Antilia, the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani.
Shiv Sena slams Centre over Vaze’s Arrest
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena has attacked the central government over the arrest of Sachin Vaze. In the party’s mouthpiece Saamana, the Shiv Sena has raised questions about the action of central investigative agencies and termed it as retaliation.
Saamana said that the Maharashtra government transferred Vaze and handed over the investigation of the entire case to the state’s Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS). While the investigation was going on, the Centre sent the NIA to investigate. It accused central govt of interfering in cases belonging to Maharashtra.
Saamana also accused the Centre of acting with retaliatory move as Vaze was involved in the arrest of Arnab Goswami. “A few months ago, with the help of Raigad police, Vaze had handpicked BJP’s ‘Mahant’ Arnab Goswami in the Anvay Naik suicide case. At that time, these people (BJP) were crying foul and cursing us saying that they have power at the centre. They saw the opportunity to retaliate now, ” it said.
It further added, “Arnab Goswami was arrested and sent to jail and Vaze was on the hitlist of BJP and Centre. The Central Squad was not ready to stop until the Mumbai Police investigation was completed. A cache of explosives is still found in the Kashmir Valley, but did this NIA squad go there? From Where did the explosives in Pulwama enter and how 40 of our soldiers were killed in that blast? This is still a mystery today!”
Shiv sena also accused the govt of going to any level to destabilize or discredit the opposition governments and infringing the rights of states.
