On Video Call With PM, CMs Of States Demand Lockdown

Mamata Banerjee highlighted the issue of unorganised sector and asked PM Modi to draft a plan for them.

 

New Delhi| Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday evening conducted a meeting with the Chief Ministers of States via video call. The meeting went on for more than an hour. In the meeting, PM Modi reviewed the preparations of the states to tackle COVID 19.

As per reports, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, UP CM Yogi Adityanath and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had attended the meet among others. The Chief Ministers apparently asked PM to announce Lockdown.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reportedly demanded that all the international flights to the state should be cancelled. She also highlighted the issue of unorganised sector and asked PM Modi to draft a plan for them as they have been affected the most due to the pandemic.

The Coronavirus Cases in the country have risen to 223 with Maharashtra reporting the highest 52 cases. India also reported its fifth official Coronavirus death on Friday.
