Most wanted gangster killed in Delhi court

New Delhi: Jailed Gangster Jitendra Gogi was killed during a firing in Delhi’s Rohini Court. Initial information said that he was shot dead by rivals. Three others have been killed and some others are injured in the incident. He was earlier said to have been operation freely from behind bars.

He was brought to be presented in the court. Police said that the shooters were already present with arms at the court premises. According to DCP Rohini, two of the assailants, who fired upon Gogi in court, were in uniform of advocates. Police then returned fired and the assailants were killed.

According to media reports, Gogi became a criminal over a decade ago during his college days when a friendship with Sunil Maan a.k.a Tillu, turned into a bitter rivalry, following Gogi’s alleged murder of one of Tillu’s close friends. The two, reportedly, also differed on which candidates to support during an election at Shraddhanand College.

In an act of vengeance, Tillu is believed to have killed a friend of Gogi’s, triggering a gang-war that terrorised the nation’s capital. The two rival gangs tussled to fill a vacancy in the underworld caused by the Delhi Police’s Special Cell’s neutralisation of gangster Neetu Dabodia and capture of his successor, Neeraj Bawana, in 2013.

Gogi was apprehended and imprisoned at Tihar Jail in 2015. However, his desperation to kill Tillu, who was jailed at Sonipat jail, led him to plan an escape that eventually took place in July 2016, while Gogi was being transported from Tihar Jail to Narwana in Haryana. Although Gogi managed to escape, four of his accomplices, including national-level boxer Deepak Pahal and female athlete Parveen Pandhi, have since been arrested.

Gogi, along with his three associates was arrested in March by the Counter Intelligence unit of Delhi Police.  Gogi and his associates— identified as Kuldeep Maan alias Fajja, Rohit Moi and Kapil were arrested from Gurugram.

In March, Gangster Kuldeep Maan alias Fajja, was killed during an encounter. He was a close aide of jailed gangster Jitender Maan alias Gogi, who was brought to the hospital for treatment, when nearly 10 armed assailants attacked police personnel and overpowered them.
