On Monday morning, back-to-back three flights from Mumbai received bomb threats. First, Air India flight AI 119 from Mumbai to New York was diverted mid-air to Delhi.
“Flight AI119 operating Mumbai to JFK (New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport) on October 14 received a specific security alert and was diverted to Delhi on instructions of the government’s security regulatory committee. All passengers have disembarked and are at the Delhi airport terminal. Our colleagues on ground are making sure to minimise the inconvenience caused to our guests by this unexpected disruption,” the airline said. The AI flight was diverted soon after the takeoff.
Hours after this, two IndiGo flights from Mumbai received bomb threats. While flight 6E 56 was operating from Mumbai to Jeddah, the other — 6E 1275 — was flying to Muscat.
“As per protocol, the aircraft was taken to a isolated bay, and following the standard operating procedure, mandatory security checks were promptly initiated,” the airlines said in a statement.
