8 Casualties,Atleast 20 Injured In Collision Of Double-Decker Buses On Purvanchal Expressway

โ€œThe accident happened near Narendrapur Madraha village of Loni Katra police station area. Both the buses were going to Delhi from Sitamarhi and Supaul in Bihar.

Lucknow: Eight people lost their lives around 20 were injured after a bus collision of double-decker busses took place on Uttar Pradeshโ€™s expressway today. According to officials, three people are reported to be critical and are undergoing treatment.

The Mishap took place in Barabanki district, about 30 kms from Lucknow.Both the buses were en route from Bihar to Delhi.

โ€œThe accident happened near Narendrapur Madraha village of Loni Katra police station area. Both the buses were going to Delhi from Sitamarhi and Supaul in Bihar. Police and rescue team are present at the spot,โ€ an official said.

The injured are undergoing treatment at CHC Haidergarh Community Health Center. Three of the seriously injured have been admitted to Trauma Center in Lucknow for treatment.

โ€œThe loss of life in a road accident on Purvanchal Expressway is very sad. Instructions have been given to the concerned officials for speedy relief and rescue operations and proper treatment of the injured. May Lord Shri Ram grant peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery to the injured.โ€ Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted in Hindi.

New Delhi: NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu will swear-in as 15th and 1st tribal president of India at 10:15 am on Monday, followed by a 21-gun salute. The oath of office of the President will be administered by Chief Justice Of India NV Ramana.

Earlier in the day, Ms Murmu had visited Rajghat,the Mahatma Gandhi memorial to pay her respects.Priror to  the oath ceremony, outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind and President-elect Murmu will arrive in parliament in a ceremonial procession.

Some of the attendees for the ceremony are Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Members of the Council of Ministers, Governors, Chief Ministers, heads of diplomatic missions, MPs and principal civil and military officers.

On Sunday, outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind hosted a dinner for President-elect Murmu, Vice President Naidu, PM Modi and the Union Council of Ministers at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Soon to be President Ms Murmu, 64, scripted history on Thursday after defeating opposition presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha to become the first tribal and the second woman to hold the top constitutional post.

She was the first woman to be sworn in as Jharkhand Governor in 2015.

The President-elect is a two-time BJP MLA from Odisha, She also served as a minister in the Naveen Patnaik cabinet when the Biju Janata Dal or BJD ruled the state with BJPโ€™s support.

Ms Murmu has diverse administrative experience having handled ministries such as transport, commerce, fisheries and animal husbandry in the Odisha government.
