Ensure All Pakistan Nationals Leave, Amit Shah Tells All CMs

Reports say that the home minister spoke with the chief ministers of all the states

Amit Shah, the union home minister, called all state chief ministers on Friday and told them to confirm that Pakistani nationals leave India by the deadline, according to reports.

India announced on April 27 that all visas granted to Pakistani nationals would be revoked in the wake of Tuesday’s deadly terror incident in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists. Indian citizens living in Pakistan were also urged to return immediately.

The home minister reportedly spoke with the chief minister of each state directly, stressing the significance of implementing the departure deadline for Pakistani citizens.

Reports say the chief ministers were directed to find Pakistani nationals in their areas of responsibility and assist in their deportation. Hindu Pakistani nationals with long-term visas are exempt from the visa cancellation policy and their visas remain valid.

As the most serious civilian-targeted terror attack since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, India immediately suspended its visa services for Pakistani nationals in response to the cross-border connections of the Pahalgam attack.

On April 24, the Ministry of External Affairs issued a press release, saying that all existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani nationals stand revoked with effect from April 27.

There are 111 Pakistani nationals living in the district of Pune, and the district administration has ordered them to leave the country by April 27. Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, all forms of visas issued to Pakistani nationals were suspended. This action follows that decision. But medical visas will still be good for an additional two days.

Information on Pakistani nationals is being collected from the passport office and visa-issuing authorities, according to district collector Jitendra Dudi.

“So far, we have received information about 111 Pakistani nationals. All of them have been informed that it is mandatory for them to leave the country within the stipulated deadline,” he said, adding, “Those here for medical reasons have been given a concession to leave by April 29.”
