Astronomical Union Names Asteroid After Indian Scientist ‘Jayantmurthy’

India’s Professor Jayant Murthy is renowned for his contributions to interstellar medium studies and ultraviolet astronomy. He now has an asteroid named after him by the International Astronomical Union. Formerly known as 2005 EX296, it is now officially designated (215884) Jayantmurthy. It was announced by the IAU’s Working Group on Small Bodies Nomenclature.
