Markets and shops shuttered in Dinhata, West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district, on Wednesday, with minimal traffic as a 24-hour Trinamool Congress-called bandh protested Tuesday’s clash between state minister Udayan Guha’s and Union minister Nisith Pramanik’s supporters. Despite police presence, the bandh garnered significant support. Meanwhile, BJP planned a demonstration outside the SP office in Cooch Behar later Wednesday, protesting the incident. Governor C V Ananda Bose, seeking a report on the altercation, is scheduled to visit Dinhata later today.
