Bengaluru Blast: CCTV Captures Suspect With Bag That Allegedly Had Bomb

Following an explosion at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe, new CCTV footage has surfaced, revealing a man entering the cafe premises in the Whitefield area. Police suspect that this individual left a bag in the cafe before the blast occurred. Another person seen with the suspect has been detained for questioning.

The primary suspect, concealed behind a mask, glasses, and a cap, was captured on cafe cameras carrying a plate of idlis.

The explosion, happening between 12:50 pm and 1 pm on Friday, left ten people injured. Authorities have invoked strict provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) promptly arrived for a thorough investigation at the scene. Injured individuals, including cafe staff and customers, are receiving medical attention.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the need to avoid politicizing the incident and urged cooperation with the ongoing investigation. He suggested an improvised explosive device might have triggered the blast.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Home Minister G Parameshwara provided crucial details about the blast’s timeline. According to him, a young man aged 28-30 entered the cafe, purchased Rava idli, placed a bag near a tree, and left. The blast occurred an hour later.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) leading the investigation, with multiple teams actively pursuing leads to identify the suspect. State Police Chief Alok Mohan classified the incident as a “bomb blast” but assured the public that injuries were not severe.

Rameshwaram Cafe co-founder Divya Raghavendra Rao revealed that initial assumptions about the blast originating in the kitchen were incorrect. CCTV footage showed the suspect ordering food, finishing his meal, and leaving a bag in the customer area before leaving.

Forensic teams are examining the scene for evidence while NSG commandos and bomb squads continue their search. The cafe management expressed deep sorrow over the incident and pledged full cooperation with authorities, offering support to the injured and their families.
