Bihar: Amid Rumblings In JD(U)-BJP Alliance, A Phone Call From Nitish To Sonia

Nitish

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has reportedly spoken to Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the phone on Sunday.

The politics in Eastern state of Bihar has been heating up for the last few days. As allies BJP and JD(U) continue to clash over different friction points for several days, a big news is coming in from the Chief Minister’s office. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has reportedly spoken to Congress President Sonia Gandhi on the phone on Sunday. If believed the reports, Nitish Kumar himself contacted the Congress chief. Many speculations are being made between JDU and BJP after this news has come to the fore.

If sources are to be believed, there was a long conversation between the two big leaders. It is not clear whether the political developments in Bihar were discussed during the call. However, speculations have already begun in the political corridors that Mr Kumar could return to the UPA (Mahagathbandhan) fold after the bitter breakup in 2017. Both the Congress and JDU have worked together in Bihar before, along with Lalu Prasad’s RJD.

Significantly, on July 30 and 31, a meeting of all the seven fronts of the BJP was held in Patna. After this meeting, several statements came from leaders of both BJP and JDU. The BJP had said that preparations are on for them to win 200 seats. Meanwhile, JDU national president Lalan Singh resorted back and asked  why only 200 seats and not 243. He also said that we are also preparing for 243 seats. Amid the political upheaval, all JDU MLAs and MLCs have been called for a meeting at 11 am tomorrow. On the other hand, a meeting has been called by RJD at Rabri Devi residence at 9 am on Tuesday. All the MLAs of the party have been called for this meeting.
