For the past several years, there has been a demand to change the names of Aurangabad and Osmanabad cities. The Maha Vikas Aghadi government had taken a decision in this regard a few months ago. The central government has also approved the naming yesterday.
Aurangabad’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Osmanabad’s Dharashiv have approved these names. Meanwhile, reactions are coming from across the state on this decision. BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar tweeted and thanked the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister. There has also been a demand to change the name of Ahmednagar.
BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar has thanked the Shinde-Fadnavis government for the name change, and expressed confidence that Ahmednagar will be renamed ‘Ahilyanagar’ under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis.
“Thanks and congratulations to the Shinde-Fadnavis government for renaming Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar and Osmanabad to Dharashiv. Likewise, Ahmednagar, the birthplace of Punyaslok Ahilya Devi, will be renamed ‘Ahilyanagar’ under the leadership of Mr. @Dev_Fadnavis,” tweeted MLA Gopichand Padalkar.
The Mahavikas Aghadi government had earlier approved the proposal to change the name of Aurangabad. After this, the Shinde-Fadnavis government also took a decision in this regard, and sent the proposal to the Centre. The Center approved this proposal yesterday.
