Centre Extends AFSPA Status In 8 Nagaland Districts

The Centre has extended the application of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA), 1958, across eight districts and 20 police station limits in Nagaland, maintaining their classification as “disturbed areas” until September 30, 2024. This extension encompasses Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Mon, Kiphire, Noklak, Phek, and Peren districts. Additionally, 20 police stations within Kohima, Mokokchung, Longleng, Wokha, and Zunheboto districts have also been designated as “disturbed areas” under Section 3 of AFSPA.
