Mizoram and Nagaland have resisted the Centre’s decision to rename Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres as Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs. Citing societal and church sentiments, these states requested exemptions from the renaming. The Union Health Ministry had decided to rebrand the network of 1.6 lakh primary health centres last year. Despite the directive, Mizoram and Nagaland continue to use the original “health and wellness centre” nomenclature while awaiting further instructions from the Centre.
