Cyclone Michaung: Chennai Airport Resumes Operations as Rainfall Moderates

Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are on high alert as Cyclone Michaung is set to make landfall today, bringing heavy rains and thunderstorms.

In the past 24 hours, both states experienced severe weather conditions. Chennai reported five deaths in rain-related incidents, including two due to electrocution and one from a fallen tree in the Besant Nagar area.

Floodwaters swept away cars in the city, leading to the closure of its busy airport until Tuesday morning.

The severe cyclonic storm poses risks of uprooting trees, extensive damage to shelters, and partial destruction of infrastructure like telephone and electric poles.
