Delhi Assembly Polls 2025: Nomination Filing Ends, 981 Candidates To Contest

According to the Election Commission, A total of 1,523 nominations have been filed by 981 candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections 2025

The nomination papers are scheduled for scrutiny on Saturday, and the last date to withdraw nominations is January 20.

The election poll body said that 680 nominations were filed on the last day of nomination filing on Friday.
A total of 30 candidates have filed nominations from the high-profile New Delhi constituency, while Kasturba Nagar recorded the least number of nominations. Only six candidates filed their nominations from the Kasturba Nagar constituency.

The New Delhi constituency will witness a triangular contest between Aam Aadmi Party Supremo Arvind Kejriwal, BJP’s Pravesh Singh Verma, and Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit. Both are the sons of two former chief ministers.

Delhi is scheduled to go to polls in a single phase on February 5, with the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Adami Party aiming for its third consecutive term. On the other hand, the Congress and the BJP are preparing to challenge the Kejriwal-led AAP’s dominance in the national capital.

The Delhi assembly elections 2025 results will be announced on February 8.
