ECI Issues Notice To Congress Leader Randeep Surjewala For Sexist Remarks

The Election Commission of India (ECI) issued a show-cause notice to senior Congress leader and MP Randeep Surjewala for alleged “vile, sexist” remarks against BJP’s Mathura MP Hema Malini. The notice demands Surjewala’s response to the comments made last week. Additionally, the ECI sought a reply from Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge regarding measures taken to ensure adherence to advisories on respecting women’s dignity in public discourse. Both Surjewala and Kharge have been asked to submit their respective responses to the Election Commission by April 11.
