Forcibly Picked Up, Dagger Shown’: Spanish Woman’s Ordeal In J’Khand

The case of a Spanish citizen being allegedly gang-raped in Jharkhand’s Dumka last week triggered a storm on social media. Now, more details have emerged.

The Spanish travel vlogger has registered a complaint with the police. Narrating the incident that unfolded, she said that she was threatened with a dagger, kicked, punched, and raped, which lasted for about two and a half hours. An FIR has been filed based on her complaint.

The woman gave her statement at 2:05 am on March 2 at a Saraiyahat community health center .

The incident reportedly happened once the couple reached Kumrahat village Dumka. The couple had setup a temporary makeshift tent at night for an overnight stay in a nearby forested hill road.

Soon, some men on a motorcycle stopped at their tent and murmured ‘Hello friends’.

The woman, in her complaint, said that seven people rushed towards their tent, could be heard talking in their local language and using a few English words in between”. “All of them” seemed to be drunk.

As per the woman’s FIR, three men began arguing with her husband, then proceeded to assault him and tie his hands. The woman alleges that the other four men forcibly took hold of her “after showing a dagger.” She further alleges that she was thrown onto the ground, subjected to kicking, punching, and repeatedly raped by all eight men.

The officials have arrested all eight accused, and the survivor left Dumka along with her husband on their bike for Nepal amid heavy security.

The couple started a world motorcycle tour, arriving in India from Pakistan in mid-July last year. Recently, they returned from Sri Lanka.

The case sparked an outcry across the country. Around 30 riders from various motorcycle clubs in Ludhiana held a protest outside a cafe on Ferozepur Road to seek justice for the 35-year-old Spanish woman.

Meanwhile, the Jharkhand High Court took suo motu cognisance on Tuesday and issued notices to the authorities.

The Brazilian embassy in New Delhi released a statement expressing deep worry for the couple. Furthermore, because the victims were dual nationals, the Brazilian embassy in New Delhi worked with the Spanish embassy to guarantee the affected couple received all support.
