Former Gujarat CM Shankersinh Vaghela’s Son Quits BJP To Join Congress Again

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela’s son Mahendrasinh Vaghela on Friday joined the Congress party in the presence of party leaders in Ahmedabad on Friday. Mahendrasinh Vaghela had quit the Congress along with his father before the 2017 Assembly elections. Mahendrasinh Vaghela was then the MLA of Bayad.

Jagdish Thakor, who is president of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee, welcomed Mahendrasinh Vaghela into the party at the state unit office.

Junior Vaghela, addressing the reporters on the occasion, said: “I want to fight against politics of hate. I was never comfortable in the BJP. Although I had joined the BJP, in the last five years I never participated in any of the party`s functions, events or programmes. Now I am back in the Congress, and will work for the party.”

On joining Congress again, Mr Vaghela stressed that neither the GOP has given any commitment, nor has he made any demands. He will take up whatever assignment is given to him by the party, he further added.

He has worked for the Congress and party leaders for almost 27 years and will gel well with them once again, Mr Vaghela added.
