The Supreme Court issued a stern rebuke to the Centre today over the Patanjali Ayurved “misleading and false” advertisement case. Criticizing the government’s inaction, the Court remarked, “The government is sitting with its eye closed.”
Last November, the Court had warned Patanjali Ayurved, co-owned by Yoga Guru Ramdev, against disseminating deceptive claims about its medicines. Expressing concern over the aggressive advertisements targeting medical professionals, the bench, led by former CJI NV Ramana, urged respect for Ramdev’s role in popularizing yoga but cautioned against denigrating other systems.
The Court urged the Centre’s counsel to devise a solution to curb misleading medical advertisements.
