Gujarat Elections Live Updates: Exit Polls For Himachal Pradesh And Gujarat Are Out

Gandhinagar: It’s the second phase of the Gujarat elections, the citizens are voting for 93 Assembly constituencies across 14 districts of north and central Gujarat. 833 candidates from 61 parties are in the fray in the second phase of the Gujarat elections whose fate will be decided by over 2.51 crore electorates. Nearly 2,400 polling booths are set up for voting today. Webcasting will be done in 13,319 polling booths in the second phase.

3:54 PM December 5: Congress Spokesperson Pawan Khera alleges that during the polling day, PM Modi did a roadshow of two & half hours while he went to cast his vote. Will appeal to EC against it, seems like Election Commission is willingly under pressure.

3:50 PM December 5: 50.51% voter turnout recorded till 3pm: EC.

3:36 PM December 5: AAP’s chief ministerial candidate is pitted against BJP candidate Mulu Ayar Bera in the Khambalia assembly seat. It is expected to be a three-horse race with the Senior Congress leader Vikram Madam also in the fray.

3:26 PM December 5: Stating “no development”, the voters in four villages of Gujarat’s Mehsana district said they were boycotting the elections. The Becharaji Taluka Bariyaf village and Kheralu Taluka’s three villages claimed that their issues have remained unresolved for decades, and they do not wish to vote this time.

3:20 PM December 5: Pawan Khera said, “Y’day our tribal leader & MLA from Danta (Kanti Kharadi) wrote to EC seeking protection, but EC didn’t respond & later he was attacked by 24 BJP goons, BJP also distributed liquor in Guj even though liquor is banned there, EC took no action on that either.”

1:55 PM December 5: Shaktisinh Gohil says, “Sonia Gandhi said nobody can replace Ahmed Patel and we’ll always feel his absence. In these polls, we felt his absence. But people saw the tactics BJP had used to defeat Ahmed Patel & they haven’t forgotten. They’ll vote against BJP as tribute.”
