An appeal to enable the worship of a โ€œShivlingโ€ allegedly discovered inside the Gyanvapi mosque complex in this location was denied on Monday, but the fast-track court postpones its decision

Varanasi:  An appeal to enable the worship of the โ€œShivlingโ€ allegedly discovered inside the Gyanvapi mosque complex in this location was denied on Monday, but the fast-track court delayed its decision until November  17.

Civil Judge Mahendra Pandey postponed the decision till November 17, Assistant District Government Counsel, Sulabh Prakash claims.

After hearing arguments from both sides of the controversy on October 27, the court had to pronounce its decision on November 8, but the case was scheduled for Monday since the judge was on leave.

The petition has been filed by three members of Vishwa Vedic Sanatan Sangh including the international general secretary Kiran Singh.  They demand banning Muslim community from entering in Gyanvapi Complex and hand over entire place to Hindu community.

The Plea initially filed in the court of Civil Judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar. The case was transferred to the fast track court on May 25 by Varansi District Judge A K Vishevesh.

A โ€œShivlingโ€ allegedly turned up during a video-graphic inspection of the mosque. A lower court that was considering a lawsuit filed by five Hindu women who wanted to be allowed to pray at Maa Shringar Gauri Sthal on the outside of the Gyanvapi mosque complex ordered the survey. The wazu khanaโ€™s fountain system, according to the mosque management, is what the construction is a part of.

The Supreme Court stated on May 20 that it has transferred the case to the District Judge. The SC observed that looking at the โ€œcomplexitiesโ€ and โ€œsensitivityโ€ of the issue, it is better if a senior judicial officer with an experience of more than 25-30 years handles the case.

New Delhi: Aftab Amin Poonawalla, the accused in the horrific Shraddha murder case, had watched many crime movies and web series including โ€˜Dexterโ€™ before committing the crime, Delhi Police sources of News Agency ANI said.

The Delhi Police on Saturday arrested a man for allegedly murdering his live-in partner, chopping her body in 35 pieces and throwing them away.

According to the police, Aftab Ameen Poonawalla strangled his live-in partner Shraddha on May 18 after they had a fight. He then chopped her body into 35 pieces and bought a fridge to keep them. Over the next 18 days, he left his house at 2 am to dispose of the pieces at various locations around Delhi.

The two started dating and moved in together. After her family did not approve of their relationship, the couple eloped and came to Delhi. They started living in a flat in Mehrauli.

Officials said that the victim, identified as Shraddha Walker from Mumbai, met the accused while working at a call center in Mumbai.

โ€œThe two got together via a dating app in Mumbai. They were in a live-in relationship for three years and had shifted to Delhi. Soon after the two shifted to Delhi, Shraddha started pressurizing the man to marry her,โ€ Additional DCP-I South Delhi Ankit Chauhan told ANI.

โ€œThe two quarreled frequently and it used to get out of control. In this particular instance that occurred on May 18, the man lost his temper and strangled her,โ€ said Chouhan.

โ€œThe accused told us that he chopped her into pieces and disposed of her parts in nearby areas in the jungle area of Chhatarpur Enclave. He has been arrested and an investigation is going on,โ€ added Chouhan.

Sources further said Aftab used to sleep every day in the same room where he had chopped the body after killing Shraddha. He used to see the face after keeping it in the fridge. Aftab cleaned the fridge after disposing of the body parts.

Sources said Aftab had relations with many girls even before Shraddha. Before committing the crime, he also watched many crime movies and web series, including the American crime drama series Dexter.

In September, the victimโ€™s friend informed her family that there was no contact with Shradhha for the last two and a half months and her mobile number was also switched off. Her family also checked her social media accounts and found no updates during this period.

In November, the victimโ€™s father Vikash Madan Walker, a resident of Palghar (Maharashtra), approached Mumbai police and lodged a missing person complaint.

During the initial investigation, the victimโ€™s last location was found in Delhi, and on the basis of this, the case was transferred to Delhi police.

The victimโ€™s father told the police about his daughterโ€™s relationship with Aftab and suspected his involvement in his daughterโ€™s absence.

During the investigation, it was found that Aaftab and Shraddha had come to Delhi and started living in a rented apartment in Chhatter Pur Pahadi area. The police during the course of the investigation, traced Aftab and nabbed him.

The accused, during questioning, confessed to the crime and said that they fought often as Shraddha was pressurizing him for marriage.

โ€œThe accused has been arrested and a case under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of an offense committed) has been registered at Mehrauli police station,โ€ officials said.

Police also recovered some bones recovered from the accusedโ€™s rented flat and officials said that the efforts to recover the remaining parts of the body were on.
