“As the Harmony Foundation celebrates this year’s Republic Day, it reminds us of the freedom of these marginalized people of our society from their harrowing condition before the SEAL Ashram rescued them.”The statement added.
On the occasion of India’s 74th Republic Day, the Harmony foundation released a statement. “Republic day is one of the most significant events and days in the collective and celebrated memories of our nation.”
“A day that celebrates the making of our Constitution and the democratic legacy of our nation, the Republic Day sheds light on our nation’s invincible legacy of solidarity, and the spirit of democracy.” Said Harmony foundation chief Dr. Abraham Mathai in a statement.
“This year, the Harmony Foundation joined the orphans and destitute which included a mentally ill MBBS doctor to celebrate Republic Day in SEAL Ashram.” Dr. Mathai added.
Since 1999, the SEAL Ashram has been dedicated to the mission of rescuing destitute and missing children from railway platforms and streets of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
The statement further Dr. Abraham Mathai, chairperson of Harmony Foundation said, “In view of Republic Day this year, we salute and celebrate the remarkable work of the SEAL Ashram who freed these children and people from deprivation and have lived up to the core ideals and values of our Constitution.”
Remembering the great freedom fighters and the makers of the constitution the statement said: “Our leaders and makers of the Indian Constitution who dedicated their lives to freeing our nation envisioned an independent and unprejudiced India which was free from societal injustice, free from impoverishment, discrimination and free from societal barriers of unprecedented magnitude that impeded our nation’s progress, and it is inspiring to see how organizations like the SEAL Ashram have followed the path of equality and solidarity laid down by our forefathers.”
“When no one was there to take care of these unfortunate ones, it was the SEAL Ashram that came to the rescue of these destitute and freed them from the clutches of their heart-wrenching condition of impoverishment and destitution.” Dr. Mathai said.
“These abandoned rescued people and residents of SEAL Ashram consist of the elderly, mentally challenged, and sick including HIV-positive patients and children dumped after birth. Had these destitute people been left at the mercy of deprivation like the hundreds of thousands living on the streets across the nation in their miserable and despairing condition, they would not be able to celebrate Republic Day in its truest sense.” Dr.Mathai said.
“The SEAL Ashram has made the impossible possible by not only rescuing these people and giving them a safe haven but also freeing them from their condition of despair and by nurturing them with their love, care and support.” Dr. Abraham Mathai added.
“As the Harmony Foundation celebrates this year’s Republic Day, it reminds us of the freedom of these marginalized people of our society from their harrowing condition before the SEAL Ashram rescued them “The statement added.
Lauding the work done by the SEAL Ashram the statement said, “The Harmony Foundation salutes the compassionate endeavors of the SEAL Ashram, especially Rev.K.M.Philip, Rev.Biju Samuel, and their dedicated team who have followed the truest ideals of our Constitution and have abided by it in its core essence. In a world that is easily swayed by materialistic endeavors, it is organizations like the SEAL Ashram that revive our hope, faith, and trust in humanity.
The statement concluded with: “It is a joy for the Harmony Foundation to stand in unity with the SEAL Ashram and its residents in the celebration of Republic Day.”
