Indiaโ€™s Reply To Pakistan At The UN Human Rights Council

During the 55th Human Rights Council of the United Nations, India exercised its โ€˜Right to Replyโ€™, delivering a firm response to Pakistan and Turkey regarding their remarks on Jammu and Kashmir. Indiaโ€™s First Secretary at the UN Human Rights Council, Anupama Singh, dismissed Pakistanโ€™s allegations and criticized its human rights record as โ€œtruly abysmalโ€. She warned Turkey, emphasizing that Jammu and Kashmir is an internal matter for India, and unsolicited comments should be avoided.

Singh highlighted three aspects she described as Pakistan being โ€œsoaked in redโ€, the bloodshed from terrorism it sponsors globally, its debt-ridden national balance sheets, and the shame felt by its people due to government failures.

India reiterated that Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh are integral parts of India, emphasizing constitutional measures for socio-economic development. Singh condemned Pakistanโ€™s institutionalized persecution of minorities, citing incidents like the August 2023 Jaranwala issue, where churches were burned and Christian houses destroyed.

Regarding Turkeyโ€™s support for Pakistanโ€™s stance, India issued a warning, expressing regret and urging Turkey to refrain from making unsolicited comments on Indiaโ€™s internal matters.

India reiterated the importance of a terrorism-free environment for regular ties with Pakistan, acknowledging Pakistanโ€™s financial challenges like currency depreciation and inflation.
