In response to growing concerns about civilian aircraft facing navigation challenges over the Middle East, India’s aviation regulator DGCA issues advisory to domestic airlines. Recent reports highlight a safety hazard as navigation systems are being spoofed in the region, prompting the DGCA to alert airlines about the threat and provide guidance on how to address it.

The circular acknowledges the aviation industry’s struggle with uncertainties related to GNSS jamming and spoofing. In a notable incident in late September, multiple flights near Iran deviated from their intended paths due to navigation system malfunctions, with one aircraft nearly entering Iranian airspace without authorization.
