India’s Second Case Of Monkeypox Confirmed, Again From Kerala

A few days ago the ministry of health and family welfare also released guidelines on managing the monkeypox disease.

Kannur: India’s, as well as Kerala’s second case of monkeypox, has been confirmed in the state’s Kannur district. A Kannur native, who returned from Dubai, was diagnosed with Monkeypox symptoms today. Currently, he is under treatment at a government medical college.

The patient returned to Kannur on May 13 and later he developed symptoms. All close contacts of the Dubai return are under medical observation.

India’s first case of monkeypox was confirmed in the Kollam district.

A few days ago the ministry of health and family welfare also released guidelines on managing the monkeypox disease.

The guidelines include Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), clinical features, and diagnosis.

According to the guidelines, contacts should be monitored at least once in a day for symptoms for 21 days from the contact with the infected person or any object that has been in contact with the infected person.

Measures For Prevention

Some of the key measures taken to prevent the Monkeypox infection:

  1. Avoid contact with any object, such as bedding, that has been in contact with a sick person.
  2. Isolate the patient from others.
  3. Practice hand hygiene after contact with infected humans or animals. For instance, regularly washing your hands with soap and water or using an alcohol-based sanitizer,
  4. Wear Personal protective equipment (PPE) when helping an infected person.

Symptoms:-The most common symptoms of the Monkeypox virus are Fever, headache, pain in the back, low energy levels and swollen lymph nodes.

Including India, the Monkeypox Virus has now spread to 62 countries.
