“Instead Of Giving Relief…”: Kerjiwal Hits Out At Centre Over New GST Regime

Arvind Kejiriwal
AAP, Sena, and Congress opposed the GST and price hike while 27 others were sworn in as Rajya Sabha Members in the Monsoon Session.

Mumbai: The Monsoon session of the Parliament began today with the lawmakers holding discussions on various issues of the country. One of the bills brought up by the centre was to raise the GST. Opposition raged at the centre for price hikes, rising GST, and unemployment in the nation.

The AAP chief, Arvind Kejriwal, also objected to kicking in GST saying that the nation is going through steep price rise, and on top of that, instead of giving relief, the centre has imposed GST on them.

ā€œI demand the central government to take back the GST applied on materials of everyday use of basic food products, it is not right. The Delhi government is the only one that is providing any respite from growing inflation through its many schemes,ā€ Kejriwal said.

Recently, the PM had targeted him with the remark ‘free ki revadi’.Hitting back on him Kejriwal said that he has come up with schemes of keeping the basic necessities for free by only keeping the welfare of people in mind, it’s a step by the Delhi government for the development of the state.

The AAP leader further said, ā€œI will tell you who is distributing ā€˜revadisā€™ and giving freebies. This waiving of friendsā€™ loans worth thousands of crores and getting contracts worth thousands of crores for them from foreign tours are giving freebiesā€, without naming anyone.

He further made his point clear by the credentials of his education. Kejriwal said that he is a educated person with true degrees. He said that he understands the economy so well that even after keeping free welfare schemes for the people of Delhi, the government is still running in profits. He further said that now its high time for the nation to decide whether it wants honest politics or corrupt politics.

He said, “People who are abusing me for providing Ā free education to transform future of poor children, providing free health services, power and water supply, free travel to women. I want to ask them whether sending the children of the poor to world-class schools and educating them for free is even comparable in any paradigm to being a ā€˜free ki revadiā€™. Is it not an act of nation building?” Adding further ā€œI do not blow my own trumpet.I don’t spend thousand of crores for buying airplanes for me,” he had said.

On Monday, an allied position of Congress , Shiv Sena and AAPĀ  in the parliament also raised slogans such asĀ  ‘Tanashahi nahi chalegi’ against the GST for which the House has been adjourned and will meet tomorrow.
The 27 newly elected or re-elected members of the Rajya Sabha also took oath today, comprises the cricketer Harbhajan Singh, daughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav – Misa Bharti, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla along with 25 others.
