With less than a week before the Karnataka Assembly Elections 2023, the Bhartiya Janata Party and the Congress have put all their might into the poll campaigning. Tall leaders from the BJP including Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma are holding rally after rally and setting the narrative as its an election for the betterment of the state on a national level and promote the double engine. At the same time, Congress from the very beginning has focused on the anti-incumbency corruption of the present government and local issues of the state. Even the national levels leaders like Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi only strengthened the local agenda by amplifying the voice of KPCC president D.K Shivkumar and LOP Siddaramaiah.

1. Implementation of UCC: The Uniform Civil Code which is also called one nation one law has been a poll promise that the BJP has been endorsing for a long time now. The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) calls for the formulation of one law for India, which would be applicable to all religious communities in matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption. The code comes under Article 44 of the Constitution, which lays down that the state shall endeavor to secure a Uniform Civil Code for the citizens throughout the territory of India. Goa is the only state in India which has a uniform civil code.

2. Introduction of NRC in Karnataka: The National Register for Citizens which sparked massive protests across the nation in 2020 has been included in the list of promises. However, Dr. K Sudhakar who heads the BJP’s campaign manifesto, while speaking to The Indian Express in an interview said that the saffron party is not going to introduce Uniform Civil Code or National Register for Citizens (NRC)immediately after returning to power but will set up an expert committee to study it.
3. Financial Incentives to Youth: The state government will provide a seed capital of Rs 10 lakh to one youth SHG from all Gram Panchayats of the state to fund their own start-up under the Swami Vivekananda Yuvashakti Yojane.
4. Namma clinic in every ward: Namma Clinic is aimed at providing primary healthcare services to vulnerable sections, especially the urban poor and daily wage workers, across the state. The BJP claims each Namma Clinic would cater to 15,000-20,000 people and provide 12 services, including antenatal, postnatal care, and immunization.
5. Atal Ahara Kendra to be set up in every ward: “The AAK aims to provide affordable, quality, and healthy food across the state with a special focus on delivery boys, cab, auto drivers, and unorganized workers,” the party said in its manifesto.
6.10 lakh jobs to be manufactured: The BJP has time and again criticized the BJP government over unemployment. The BJP’s manifesto has stated to provide 10 Lakh jobs in the state if voted back to power. According to reports, Karnataka’s unemployment rate is 2.7% — lower than the national figure of 4.2 %.
8. Poshana scheme to be launched: Through which every BPL household will be provided with half liter Nandini milk every day and 5 kg Shri Anna – Siri Dhanya through monthly ration kits.
9. Bengaluru to be the State Capital Region: The establishment of the ‘State Capital Region’ (SCR) of Bengaluru. The SCR will encompass a comprehensive city development strategy, cohesive transportation networks, and cutting-edge digital integration. One of the main projects under the development plan for the SCR is the establishment of a world-class Multi-Modal Transport Hub, named “Concorde Bangalore”. The hub, similar to the WTC transport hub in New York, will act as a central node for all public and on-demand transport services. The party’s vision for the SCR of Bengaluru is to establish it as a model city for the rest of India. With these projects, the BJP aims to provide world-class infrastructure and services to the citizens of Bengaluru, while also promoting sustainable development and digital innovation.
To tackle the city’s traffic challenges, BJP has announced the development of a comprehensive mobile application that integrates AI-driven solutions. The app will aim to improve traffic management in critical areas like Silk Board Junction, Hebbala, Gorgunte Palya, Mekhri Circle, Sarjapur, and others. The mobile application will offer intelligent traffic management, demand-responsive transit, smart parking solutions, and enhanced traffic safety features.
9. Rs 3000 K-Agri fund to be set up: To set up micro-cold storage facilities, along the lines of the Nandini model, and agro-processing units in all Gram Panchayats through the PPP model under the Krishika Bandhu scheme; modernization and digitization of APMCs; affordable farm mechanization infrastructure; 5 new agro-industry clusters and 3 new food processing parks.
10. Distribution of 10 lakh housing sites: The state government pledges to distribute 10 lakh housing sites in 5 years with state government assistance up to Rs 5 lakh.
11. 3 free cylinders to BPL families: The BJP which is often the target of the opposition over the rising prices of the LPG (1,150 currently) has promised 3 free cylinders annually to BPL families.
