Kharge Warns Of “Last Election” If Modi Re-Elected As PM

Mallikarjun Kharge, the President of the Congress, predicted on Monday that if Narendra Modi stays in power, the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be the final elections held in India.

Addressing a group of Congressmen in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Kharge claimed that PM Modi would impose a dictatorship following this year’s general elections.

“If Modi comes to power after the Lok Sabha polls, there will be dictatorship, no democracy and no elections,” Kharge said.

Kharge stated that the general elections of 2024 would be the last opportunity for citizens to cast ballots in the nation.

“They are giving (ED) notices to everyone. They are intimidating people… Because of fear, some are leaving friendships, some are leaving the party, and some are leaving the alliance… This is your last chance to vote. After this, there will be no voting,” he said.

Kharge described the RSS as the ideological mentor of the BJP and advised the party workers to stay away from them, calling them “poison”.

“Rahul Gandhi wants to unite the country; he said he has opened ‘Mohabbat ki dukaan’. But the BJP and RSS have opened ‘nafrat ki dukaan’. It is because of this that you need to remain alert. BJP and RSS are poison, they are depriving us of our rights,” Kharge said.

In addition, he targeted Odisha Chief Minister and leader of the BJD, Navin Patnaik, for his “friendship” with Prime Minister Modi.

“What did Navin Patnaik gain from his friendship with Narendra Modi? The double engine fails at times. And when the double engine doesn’t work properly, the first engine fails,” he said.

In the parliament, the BJD frequently supports the BJP.

Regarding Nitish Kumar’s departure from the INDIA bloc, he stated that the results of the elections will not be affected by one member leaving the alliance. “One person quitting Mahagathbandhan will not weaken us; we will defeat BJP,” he said.

On Sunday, Nitish Kumar broke away from the INDIA group and teamed up with the BJP to form a government in Bihar.

The Congress was held accountable by the Janata Dal (United), who claimed that the party tried to seize the leadership of the INDIA bloc. Additionally, it charged that the Congress forced Kharge’s nomination as the alliance’s prime ministerial face upon Mamata Banerjee.
