Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, V K Saxena, has authorized an investigation into allegations that former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain accepted a Rs 7 crore bribe from Bharat Electronics Limited officials. The Anti-Corruption Branch will conduct the inquiry under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Jain allegedly received the bribe to waive a Rs 16 crore penalty imposed on BEL during a CCTV installation project worth Rs 571 crore in Delhi’s Assembly constituencies.
