Madras High Court Convicts TN Minister

In a significant setback, the Madras High Court has convicted Tamil Nadu Minister K Ponmudy in a disproportionate assets case, overturning his earlier acquittal by a Vellore court. The principal sessions court in June cited insufficient evidence for the acquittal, but the High Court has now reversed the decision, with sentencing scheduled for later this week.
