Maharashtra Govt Renames 8 Local Railway Stations In Mumbai

The Maharashtra government, led by Eknath Shinde, has decided to rename eight local railway stations in Mumbai that bear British-era names. Shiv Sena MP Rahul Shewale announced that the state government has approved his proposal for the name changes. The proposal will now be forwarded to the Centre for final approval.

  • Mumbai Central may be named after philanthropist Jagannath Shankar Seth.
  • Curry Road is likely to be renamed Lalbagh.
  • Sandhurst Road to Dongri.
  • Marine Lines may become Mumba Devi.
  • Charni Road could be Girgaon.
  • Cotton Green might be called Black Chowki.
  • Dockyard Road, Mazgaon, pending central approval.
