Mamata Banerjee announces cabinet reshuffle, seven new districts will be carved out in the state very soon.

Mumbai: TMC being hit by the recent raids on her former minister and close confidante Partha Chatterjee, West Bengal Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee today announced that there will be a cabinet reshuffle in the state on Wednesday with four to five new faces, adding that the ministers would be sworn on Wednesday evening.

After the cabinet meeting, Banerjee said, “We lost ministers Subrata Mukherjee, Sadhan Pande. Partha is in jail. They had important departments like Panchayat, Industry, Consumer Affairs, and many others. I can’t take the pressure alone anymore. That’s why I have to include some new faces in the cabinet. Hence we will have a small oath-taking ceremony the day after tomorrow.”

Banerjee also announced that seven new districts will soon be incorporated into the state. The state currently has 23 districts. The 7 new districts include: Sunderban, Ichhemati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, Behrampur and another district will be called Basirhat.

Mamata Banerjee’s government was heavily criticized after the investigation agency raid revealed piles of money belonging to multiple properties belonging to Chaterjee’s 30-year-old aide. However, days after heaps of cash and kilos of gold were seized by the ED from Arpita Mukherjee’s homes in Kolkata, the TMC minister Partha Chatterjee claimed the money did not belong to him. He said “it was a conspiracy to frame him.”
