Uttar Pradesh: UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while speaking about the Lucknow’s Lulu Mall controversy has spoken against “unnecessary remarks and staging demonstrations to obstruct the movement of the people”.

“The Lucknow administration must take the matter very seriously. Miscreants attempting to create such nuisance should be dealt with strictly,” said CM Yogi.

Aditynath inaugurated the mall on July 10, the mall is run by Abu Dhabi-based Lulu Group of Indian-origin billionaire Yussuf Ali MA.

The cops have booked four out of 8 Muslim men who were seen offering Namaz at the mall on July 12. A case of outraging religious feelings was filed after a video of the men came to light and some Hindu outfits alleged violations of communal harmony by those using public space for religious activity. Right Wing groups also sought permission to recite Hanuman Chalisa as a counter however, the permission was declined.

Later three Hindu men were also arrested as they sought to hold prayers on July 15. The next day more than 10 people were arrested, besides the two arrested over trying to hold prayers and shouting slogans.

The Mall management has put up a board saying, “No religious prayers will be permitted in the mall.”

Some groups have accused the mall owner of being biased towards the Muslim community however, the management denied the allegations by providing data on those employed with it.

“Lulu Mall respects all religions and any kind of worshipping is not permitted here. In this regard, we provide strict training to our staff to keep an eye on such incidents.”Said Sameer Verma, General Manager of Lulu Mall.
