Vikas Walkar, met Mumbai Police Commissioner Madhukar Pandey on Friday and said that he has filed a plea on his daughterโ€™s 2020 pending complaint

Mumbai: Father of Shraddha Walkar, who was murdered by her live-in partner and butchered into pieces, Vikas Walker, met Mumbai Police Commissioner Madhukar Pandey on Friday and said that he has filed a plea on his daughterโ€™s 2020 pending complaint.

โ€œI wanted some information regarding the complaint filed by my daughter in 2020. So, I have filed a plea for the same. That might be useful for the case in the future. I have also complained about Aaftabโ€™s family to the police commissioner. Aftabโ€™s family had all the information still did not say anything.โ€ said Vikas Walkar. He also said, โ€œYes, I have been told that the DNA samples (his own with that of the bones that were recovered) have matched. Letโ€™s see what happens.โ€
He claimed that the top cop assured him of action and investigations into the alleged negligence in handling the 2020 plaint.

Shraddhaโ€™s live-in partner and her murder accused, Aaftab Poonawala, on Friday moved an application in Delhiโ€™s Saket Court seeking bail, which the court is likely to hear on Saturday.
Poonawala, who has been arrested based on his confession of killing Walkar and chopping her body into 35 pieces to dispose it of, was arrested last month and is currently lodged in Tihar jail.
On December 9, he was produced before a court via video conferencing and his judicial custody was further extended by 14 days.

A total of 13 decomposed bones and part of a jaw were collected from the Mehrauli forest that were suspected to belong to the 27-year-old woman.

โ€œPolice have received DNA and polygraph test reports from Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). These reports will help us further in the investigation,โ€ Sagar Preet Hooda has said.
On Thursday, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena approved a proposal of the Delhi Police to appoint special public prosecutors to represent the Union Territory in the trial court in the Shraddha Walkar murder case.

According to the L-G office, advocates Madhukar Pandey and Amit Prasad will represent Delhi Police as special public prosecutors in the matter.
Shraddha Walkar was murdered allegedly by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawala (28) at the coupleโ€™s rented flat in Delhiโ€™s Chhattarpur Pahadi area.

RJD backs Tejashwi, says โ€œLS poll result obtained through conspiracyโ€

Tejashwi Yadav

Patna | The RJD on Tuesday refused to accept the partyโ€™s poor performance in the just-concluded General Elections, saying the โ€œresult was obtained through conspiracyโ€.

The partyโ€™s view was conveyed to mediapersons by senior leader Jagadanand Singh after a day-long meeting of senior party leader Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav with the 19 LS candidates of the RJD.

Singh, who himself lost to Union minister Ashwani Kumar Choubey for the Buxar seat, said the party leaders reposed faith in Tejashwi Yadav.

He praised Tejashwi for working hard in the run up to the polls, addressing 235 public meetings in total.

He said Tejashwi, who is party president Lalu Prasad Yadavโ€™s younger son and heir apparent, has been successful in energising the youths.

Singh said the party has constituted a three-member committee to analyse in detail the reasons for the poll defeat and the conspiracy angle.

Besides Singh, senior RJD leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui and Bihar unit secretary general Alok Mehta are the other members in the committee, which would submit its report within a week, RJD state president Ram Chandra Purbe said.

โ€œWe dont accept the poll result as the peoples mandate. We dont reckon the majority garnered through conspiracy as peoplesโ€™ mandate. This is the result of conspiracy,โ€ Singh said.

Singh, accompanied by RJD state president Ram Chandra Purbe, was talking to reporters here outside Rabri Deviโ€™s 10, Circular Road residence after the party meeting.

The RJD spearheaded the five-party โ€˜mahagathbandhanโ€™ in the 40 LS seats of Bihar. While the RJD drew a blank, Congress won just the Kishanganj seat in the state. Its opponent National Democratic Alliance won 39 seats.

Singh said the party leaders reposed full faith in the leadership of Tejashwi, and said as per the partyโ€™s national council, he will continue to lead the party till the 2020 Assembly elections.

โ€œThe allies of โ€˜mahagathbandhanโ€™ are not at all feeling demoralised or discouraged for 2020 assembly elections. We, rather, feel that the people had given mandate in our favour but the opponents garnered majority through conspiracy,โ€ Singh reiterated.

Other than the RJD and the Congress, the Bihar mahagathbandhan consisted of the RLSP, HAM and VIP.

When asked whether the party would take action against Tej Pratap Yadav for canvassing against party nominee in Jehanabad, where the party lost by a few more than a thousand votes, Singh evaded the question, saying he was raising a more important issue.

The two-day meeting will continue on Wednesday with a meeting of grand alliance partners followed by legislature party meeting of the RJD in the evening, Singh added.

Senior RJD MLA Maheshwar Prasad Yadav had attacked Tejashwi Yadav on Monday and demanded he step down as the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, taking moral responsibility for the poll debacle.

Senior RJD MLA Maheshwar Prasad Yadav had attacked Tejashwi Yadav on Monday and demanded he step down as the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, taking moral responsibility for the poll debacle.
