Opposition hails SC ruling asking Assmebly Speaker to rule on Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena plea on disqualification by December 31 & on Sharad Pawar faction by January 31

Opposition parties in Maharashtra have welcomed the Supreme Court’s ultimatum to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar to give his ruling on the disqualification petitions filed by Uddha Thackeray’s Shiv Sena faction by December 31 and those from Sharad Pawar led NCP by January 31.
Shiv Sena leader and former Minister Aaditya Thackeray said, “The Hon’ble Supreme Court of India has set an end date to the unconstitutional circus going on in Maharashtra’s governance system. The Speaker, acting as tribunal, now must decide and must not drag on the hearings in front of him.”
“It is now upto the Speaker (as Tribunal) to formally and officially close the chapter of the Khoke Sarkar formed by the mindhe-bjp’s anti constitutional, illegal and immoral means,”he noted.
Aaditya said that the speaker (as tribunal) will be remembered by his decision, where either he now disqualifies the khoke sarkar’s illegal regime and upholds our constitutional values and our country’s democratic fabric, or gives into supporting “Gaddaars” and the mindhe-bjp’s intent of destroying our great nation’s democracy, and constitution.
“The world is watching, and every citizen of our country is watching the decision of the Speaker (as tribunal),” he opined.
The state president of NCP led by Sharad Pawar, Jayant Patil hailed the apex Court’s order saying that this is an indication of very healthy functioning of the judiciary in the country. “It is ufathomable to understand that nine legislators go and suddenly take the oath without thinking of their original party. Although the hearing was pending before the Speaker who was delaying it. However, the Supreme Court intervened and fixed the time schedule,”he said.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesman Atul Londhe claimed the apex Court’s directive is probably the first of its kind  rap of the Assmebly Speaker. ” It is unfortunate that the Supreme Court has to tell the Legislature to maintain the sanctity of the 10th Schedule. It has also exposed how BJP maintains the respect of the Legislature post 2014,”he observed.
