Parliament Winter Session: Opposition Criticizes Suspension Of 14 MPs

Yesterday, the Parliament adjourned amid ongoing protests over the suspension of 13 Lok Sabha MPs and one Rajya Sabha MP during the Winter Session proceedings. Opposition MPs condemned the suspensions, asserting the right of elected representatives to pose questions. Of the suspended Lok Sabha MPs, nine are from the Congress, two from the CPM, one from the CPI, and one from the DMK. DMK’s SR Parthiban was erroneously included, as he was absent. In the Rajya Sabha, TMC’s Derek O’Brien faced suspension for ‘gross misconduct’ and ‘defying the Chair.’ Parliamentary sessions will resume today, with the Winter Session concluding on December 22.
