Police Official Murdered By Terrorists In J&K’s Pampore

Identified as sub-inspector Farooq Ahmed Mir, the body was recognized earlier today morning.

Jammu & Kashmir: Today morning officials identified the body of Jammu and Kashmir police sub-inspector (ministerial wing) identified as Farooq Ahmed Mir.

The officer’s remains were found in the fields of the Pampore area earlier today morning. The valley that has been under constant civilian and militant unrest has reported several killings in this manner over the past few years.

“Dead body of Farooq Ahmad Mir of Sam,boo ra SI (M) posted in IRP 23 Bn was found in paddy fields near his home. Preliminary investigation reveals that he had left his home for work in his paddy fields yesterday in the evening, where he was shot dead by terrorists using a pistol,” J&K Police tweeted.

The official was posted in the Indian Reserve Police or IRP battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir police force unit.

Mir is the ninth officer that has been extradited by alleged terrorist forces this year. Police sources stated that the officer who left for his fields in his native village of Sampoora was found dead today by locals today morning in the field.

Preliminary search of the body has recovered one pistol fired bullet from the chest.

This attack is followed by the killing of several police officers earlier this year. Last month in the area, constable Saifullah Qadri, 45 was killed leaving his nine-year-old daughter injured. Alleged militants reportedly opened fire on the duo outside their residence in the Soura locality on the borders of Srinagar.

January reported 44 total police deaths across the country with 21 alone from the Jammu & Kashmir region. The region is under constant siege between militant groups and enforcement units.
