Rabri Devi, Mahagathbandhan Candidates File Nominations For Bihar MLC Elections

On Monday, Rabri Devi, the former Chief Minister of Bihar and leader of the RJD, submitted her nomination for the Bihar MLC elections. Four other Mahagathbandhan candidates also filed their nominations. Among them were three RJD candidates: Abdul Bari Siddiqui, Dr. Urmila Thakur, and Syed Faisal Ali. Shashi Yadav, a candidate from CPI-ML, also submitted nomination papers.

Rabri Devi, accompanied by her husband and party president, Lalu Prasad Yadav, was pictured flashing a victory sign.

Lalu Prasad, Tejashwi Yadav, Tej Pratap Yadav, and other leaders attended the event.

Following former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi’s nomination, former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav expressed confidence that RJD would emerge victorious in the MLC elections.

The former Deputy CM said, “Today, five candidates from the Mahagathbandhan filed their nominations. Among them, three are women.”

Previously, on Saturday, the BJP revealed its list of candidates for the Uttar Pradesh and Bihar MLC elections.

Monday, March 11, marked the final day for filing nominations for the March 21 MLC polls in Bihar and UP. In Bihar, 11 seats are up for contest.
For the MLC election 2024, the BJP has disclosed candidates for 3 Bihar seats: Mangal Pandey, Dr Lal Mohan Gupta, and Anamika Singh.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Khalid Anwar have already filed their nominations under the JD(U) quota.

During Bihar CM’s nomination, State BJP leaders, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with senior JD-U leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Vijay Choudhary, Ashok Choudhary, and others were present.

On January 9, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed its first charge sheet in the railways land-for-jobs-linked money laundering case. Former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi, her daughter MP Misa Bharti, and others were named.

The alleged scam dates back to when Lalu Prasad was the railway minister in the UPA-1 government. The case, based on a complaint by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), involves criminal sections of the PMLA Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The CBI had previously filed a charge sheet.

Things in Bihar are getting intense as candidates file nominations for the MLC elections. Prominent leaders from different parties are involved. Also, the Enforcement Directorate has filed a charge sheet in a case about railway jobs and money laundering, making the political situation even more complicated. With the elections coming up, Bihar is preparing for a critical time of political moves and close inspection by the public.
