Sena Under Siege: 34 MLAs Sign Letter To Governor Promising Support To Eknath Shinde Camp

Eknath Shinde

Eknath Shinde who earlier claimed the allegiance of 40 MLAs move into sweep in Sena’s head with support letter.

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena seemed to drown deeper into dark-waters as 24 MLAs today submitted their allegiance letter to the Governor ensuring their support to the rebel camp leader Eknath Shinde.

The MLAs, presently camped in Guwahati signed an official letter to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, that they would like Eknath Shinde to remain the legislative party head of the Shiv Sena.

The letter from the MLAs arose today after Eknath Shinde was sacked yesterday from the party’s chief whip position. The letter added that Bharat Gogavle from the rebel camp has been appointed as chief Whip of the Sena, reverting the Sena’s earlier choice to promote Uddhav Thackeray’s nominee for the chief whip position: Sunil Prabhu.

Shinde has since deemed the party MLA meet that was to be held at 5 pm today hosted by Uddhav Thackeray as “illegal”.

The meeting that was to be the penultimate board for strategizing amidst the rebel camp winds was Thackeray’s final straw at gaining momentum against a government ‘over-turn’.

The rebel camp that consisted of Shinde and 40 other MLAs currently camp at a five-star luxury hotel in Guwahati.

“Shiv Sena Legislature Party resolution carrying signatures of 34 MLA stating that Eknath Shinde remains as leader of Shiv Sena Legislature Party has been sent to Governor.” News Source ANI tweeted today.

“Myself and 39 other MLAs accompanied me. We are loyal to Balasaheb Thackeray’s ideology of ‘Hindutva’ and we are keen to take it forward,” rebel camp leader Shinde commented.

Shinde and camp with this move, may just have nailed the final coffin into the Sena’s long-held Thackeray captaincy.

The move that has come amid various speculation might push the Shiv Sena led MVA (Maha Vikas Agadi) coalition to the edge of collapse.
