Shinde urges Centre to form a joint group to check money transfer to naxals, also a rail network in border areas to boost development

Sanjay Jog: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who was accompanied by the Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday urged the Centre to set up a joint group comprising the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax and Financial Intelligence Unit to examine the money transfer to the naxals. ‘’Our intelligence agencies are of the view that the crores of rupees are delivered to the naxals during a year. I request the Centre to stop these money transactions by forming a joint group of ED, I-T and FIU who can keep a check on the money received by the naxals. If we are successful in stopping such money transfer to naxals their back will be completely broken,’’he opined. Shinde was speaking at the review meeting chaired by the Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Left Wing Extremism.

Shinde narrated the Maharashtra government’s experience in tacking the naxal menace in the border Gadchiroli district saying that ‘’The naxalism is on the verge of extinction in Gadchiroli due to the development approach along with the stern action.’’

Shinde further urged the Centre to put in place a mechanism to take action by using modern technology against the use of internet and social media to propagate & spread urban naxalism. He also appealed to the Centre to develop a rail network in Gadchiroli and border areas of Chhattisgarh and Telangana as it will give a much needed boost for development in this region.
