Smriti Irani, Jyotiraditya Scindia Get Additional Responsibilities After Two Cabinet Ministers Resign

New Delhi: Soon after Union ministers Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Ram Chandra Prasad Singh stepped down from the Modi cabinet Minister for Textiles Smriti Irani and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia have been assigned additional portfolios of minority affairs and steel ministries.

Both Naqvi and Singh tendered their resignations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, a day before the completion of their Rajya Sabha tenure.

“President of India, as advised by PM, accepts the resignations of Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and Ram Chandra Prasad Singh from Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect. Smriti Irani to be assigned Ministry of Minority Affairs charge, in addition to her existing portfolio.”, a tweet by news agency ANI.

The tweet further informed, “Jyotiraditya Scindia to be assigned Ministry of Steel charge, in addition to his existing portfolio.”

Mr. Naqvi is speculated to be NDA’s Vice President nominee.
