Supreme Court Refuses To Stay Law To Appoint ECs

The Supreme Court declined, for the second time, to prohibit a controversial law regarding the appointment of election commissioners. However, it included the petition in a list of pending cases for April hearings, just before a general election. The court also summoned a response from the central government. The petition was filed by the Association for Democratic Reforms, a non-political and non-partisan organization advocating electoral and political reforms.
