Meanwhile, a Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad team has moved to Raigad, where the suspicious boat with ammunitions was found at Harihareshwar Beach.

MUMBAI: Two suspicious boats with three AK-47 rifles and bullets have been found off the Raigad coast in Maharashtra on Thursday.

Locals spotted the boats, having no crew member, in the Shrivardhan area, located more than 190 km from Mumbai, and alerted security agencies.

Raigad Superintendent of Police Ashok Dudhe and other senior officials rushed to the spot and searched the boat. Three AK-47 rifles and some bullets were found on the boat and the police were conducting further probes, according to officials.

β€œAn unidentified boat was found at Harihareshwar Beach and a lifeboat found at Bharadkhol in Raigad district. Nobody is present on either of them. Coast Guard and Maharashtra Maritime Board have been informed of the same. Police Department is taking the necessary action,” the Raigad police stated.

The crew members of this boat had been rescued in June this year near the Oman coast. The police informed that the boat came floating to the Raigad coast.

Security has been beefed up in Raigad district and nearby areas after a suspected boat was found near Harihareshwar Beach. A police investigation is underway.

The incident has sent the entire system into an alert. Especially because the boat has been found in Harihareshwar which is not far from the Financial Capital.

According to reports, the boat is reportedly registered in the UK. The boat is named after a UK company. It has been verified by the police.

Besides this, the police have come to know about 2 persons. It has got its hands on the evidence regarding this. Reportedly, both these persons are citizens of Indonesia. Also, the police have found some documents about an Australian citizen.

Mumbaikars have still not forgotten the 26/11 terrorist attack in which several innocent citizens and policemen were killed. 10 Pakistani terrorists had entered the city via sea route then.

Meanwhile, MLA Anil Tatkare has raised the issue in the Legislative Council. Anil Tatkare said “AK 47, the cartridge was found at Harihareshwar beach in Raigad. It is an important matter in terms of defense from the point of view of the state. It is Gokulashtami, Ganeshotsav”, he said

He further said, “A lifeboat has been found in Diveagara. Is 26/11 happening again? Have terrorists entered the state?”, he demanded that the government submit a statement in this regard.
