Synthetic Sweetener Found In Cake Linked To Punjab Girl’s Death: Report

A 10-year-old girl from Punjab died after consuming a chocolate cake ordered online from a bakery in Patiala for her birthday. Officials revealed that the cake was baked with a high concentration of artificial sweetener, saccharine, which can cause rapid increases in blood glucose levels. District Health Officer Dr. Vijay Jindal stated that while small amounts of saccharine are common, excessive levels pose health risks. Authorities plan to take action against the bakery, including possible fines, with a FIR already filed against the owner.
