T Raja Singh Remarks Against Prophet: Tension Continues In Hyderabad After T Raja Released On Bail

Protest continues in Hyderabad as BJP MLA T Raja’s subsequent release after making derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad.

Mumbai:  BJP MLA T Raja who made the derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and released the video on social media on Monday night was arrested yesterday and has been released on bail last evening. Tension continues in Hyderabad as protest has erupted in the Old City following the derogatory comments made by BJP MLA with his subsequent release.

On Tuesday night, Raja Singh’s followers gave him a warm greeting at Mangalhat, as nearby residents screamed chants calling for his execution.

Groups of youngsters continued their protest in Amberpet, Tallabkatta, Charminar, Moghalpura, Khilwat, Bahadurpura and Chanchalguda. The surroundings of Charminar continued to witness the maximum late-night protest. The police have also shut down the Puranapul Bridge and Moosarambagh bridge as a precautionary measure and have intensified patrolling in all areas of the city.

Tuesday morning, while Singh was being led away by the police, he vehemently refuted the accusations levelled against him and made a threat to publish a second segment of the video as soon as the first one had been removed by the authorities. According to him, his video was a reaction to stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui’s show.

The Nampally criminal court granted the MLA bail despite the fact that he was accused with violating sections 295(a), 153(a), 505(1)(b), and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code. The court reasoned that proper procedure had not been followed prior to the arrest.

The reports of the protesters pelting stone and burning out few areas have been denied by the police. However, Hyderabad police said they are on a high alert to avert any clash between the two communities in the densely populated localities in the city.

Previously, BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s controversial statement on Prophet Muhammad made the country suffer with communal disharmony after which she was suspended from the party and now similar comments have been made by this MLA T Raja of the same party.
