Telangana’s Political Storm: Did KCR Spy On CM Revanth Reddy?

Did Bharat Rashtra Samitihi Chief and former Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar snoop on current CM Revanth Reddy?

Allegations have surfaced claiming that state police officers tapped the phones of opposition leaders, including Revanth Reddy, as well as celebrities and businessmen.

Reports suggest that this surveillance was used to blackmail businessmen into making substantial contributions to the BRS party fund.

Three top police officers have been arrested in this case. They’re looking for T Prabhakar Rao, who used to lead the State Intelligence Bureau but is said to be in the US now.

Police say two other officers, Additional Superintendent of Police Bhujanga Rao and Additional Superintendent of Police Thirupathanna, have confessed to spying illegally and destroying evidence.

It’s reported that Ravi Paul, who worked as a technical advisor for the state intelligence bureau when the BRS was in charge, apparently helped bring in and set up equipment to listen to Mr Reddy’s conversations near his home.

The equipment supposedly came from Israel, but it’s claimed that a software company was used to cover the import. It seems they didn’t get permission from the Centre, which is needed for such imports.

Reports suggest that this setup could hear anything said within a 300-meter range.

Ravi Paul is accused of setting up an office near Mr Reddy’s home and putting in the device. The police plan to question him about this.
Lookout notices are also out for Sharvan Rao, who runs the Telugu TV channel I News, and Radha Kishan Rao, a police officer with the city task force.

The surveillance wasn’t just on opposition leaders. It extended to top businessmen, like real estate dealers, jewellers, and celebrities. Reports suggest that phone tapping led to the breakup of a celebrity couple.

Adding to BRS’s problems, Chief Minister Reddy got a complaint from Sharan Chaudhary, a businessman and BJP leader. Chaudhary claims that senior police officers kidnapped him last year. They allegedly made him sign off a piece of land to a relative of former minister and BRS leader Errabelli Dayakar Rao.

Chaudhary alleges that Radha Kishan Rao and senior police officer ACP Umamaheswara Rao abducted him on August 21 while he was going to the office. He says they held him illegally and forced him to transfer his property to Vijay, a close relative of the minister. He also claims they made him pay ₹50 lakh before releasing him.

The businessman mentioned that after the incident, he went to the High Court seeking help. However, Uma Maheshwar Rao allegedly threatened to file fake cases against him. This coercion led the businessman to withdraw his petition.

The KCR-led party hasn’t responded to these allegations so far.
