Udaipur: Police sources today said that one of the killers among the two in the Udaipur Kanhaiya Lal row had alleged connections to terrorist organisations. The National Investigative Agency (NIA) that currently heads the probe commented that 10 Pakistani numbers were discovered in the suspect’s mobile phone.
According to the agency, Mohammad Riyas Ansari was allegedly in connection with Pakistan based terror organisations, while Gulam Gaus purportedly visited Karachi in 2014.
They viewed several ISIS films and called to Pakistan numerous times before murdering Kanhaiya Lal, according to sources in the police and the Special Investigation Team established by the Ashok Gehlot administration.
According to authorities, Dawaat-e-Islam, a terror group with offices in Pakistan, was in communication with Riyas Ansari. The other accused traveled to Nepal twice and spoke to a number of terrorist groups. According to sources, he also had links in Dubai.
For the past week, Riyas had been waiting for Kanhaiya Lal to open his business. On June 17, he posted a video in which he promised to become famous after doing an “act.” Sources said that he had encouraged others to follow that example.
Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, stated that an initial investigation had shown that the murder took place to incite terrorism and that the culprits had linkages to other countries. According to the strict terms of UAPA, a complaint has been filed, he stated.
For Kanhaiya Lal’s family, the government has proposed a compensation of 31 lakh.
The government instructed the National Investigation Agency to look into the terrible murder of Kanhaiya Lal earlier today, treating it as a terrorist event. The home ministry tweeted that “the participation of any organisation and overseas linkages will be properly explored.”
Gos Mohammad and Riyas Ansari, the murderers, were taken into police custody shortly after the crime. Yesterday afternoon, the two entered Kanhaiya Lal’s business while pretending to be customers and filmed the attack on video.
In another video, the murderers are seen threatening Prime Minister Narendra Modi while boasting about the murder while wielding a cleaver.
Last night, a curfew was imposed across several regions of Udaipur and internet service was cut off throughout the district after violent acts were reported from several other regions. Rajasthan has also presently outlawed large public gatherings.
On social media, Kanhaiya Lal showed his support for Nupur Sharma, a former BJP spokesman whose provocative comments on Prophet Mohammed sparked a heated debate both domestically and internationally.
On June 10, he was detained due to a post. He informed the police that he was being intimidated by his neighbours on June 15 while out on bond.
