โ€œWas Never Our Memberโ€: BJP Distances Itself From Caught LeT Terrorist, Calls For NIA Probe

BJP

After uproar over the Bharatiya Janata Partyโ€™s (BJP) alleged link with captured Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Talib Hussain, the saffron party has now distanced itself from him and denied that he had ever been a member of the partyโ€™s Jammu and Kashmir unit.

Along with another LeT militant, Talib Hussain was arrested in Reasi district on Sunday. Soon after his arrest, allegations surfaced that Talib was member of the saffron party and in fact headed the IT cell of the BJPโ€™s Minority Morcha in Jammu.

The BJP had initially argued that Talib had resigned from the BJP in May this year after being a member for only 18 days. However, J&K BJP Chief Ravinder Raina has now said that Talib was never directly associated with the party in any capacity.

โ€œTalib Hussain wasnโ€™t even a member of the BJP. He used to visit BJP office in the garb of journalist,โ€ Raina was quoted as saying by India Today.

The J&K BJP Chief also alleged that top BJP leaders and office-holders were on Hussainโ€™s hit-list, seeking a probe by central anti-terror agency NIA.

โ€œTalib Hussain did recce of my office. He sent videos of my office to his Pakistani handlers. He used to meet BJP leaders by posing as a journalist. We demand NIA probe,โ€ Raina said.

Minority Morcha Chief Sheikh Bashir has been issued a show-cause notice by the party, and heโ€™s been asked to  reply within 48 hours, Rain said. โ€œHe [Bashir]doesnโ€™t have the authority to make any appointment. Every appointment in the party is made by the President,โ€ Raina added.

Akhilesh Yadav Swipes At BJP Over Bihar Politics โ€˜August Krantiโ€™

Samajwadi Partyโ€™s Akhilesh Yadav said, โ€œLike Bihar, the people of Uttar Pradesh will also throw out the BJP like a โ€˜doodh ki makkhiโ€™.โ€

Mumbai: Samajwadi President Akhilesh Yadav reacted a day after JDU ended its tie with the BJP, on Wednesday saying that the socialists started an โ€œAugust Krantiโ€ on August 9 and taught a lesson to the BJP in Bihar now even the people of Uttar Pradesh will throw it away.

On the Centreโ€™s โ€˜Har Ghar Tirangaโ€™ campaign, Akhilesh Yadav said, โ€œFor the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP will forget the tricolour and will switch to Hindu-Muslim. The BJP has learned the policy of divide and rule from the British. People are well aware of these ideologies of the BJP.โ€ Referring to a colloquial Hindi phrase he said people will throw BJP away from Uttar Pradesh.

โ€œLike Bihar, the people of Uttar Pradesh will also throw out the BJP like a โ€˜doodh ki makkhiโ€™ โ€œ, he said.

To commemorate 75 years of Indiaโ€™s independence, the central government has launched the โ€œHar Ghar Tirangaโ€ campaign, in which individuals are urged to fly the tricolour at their residences.

โ€œThe parent organisation of the BJP, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS, never took part in the liberation fight and never raised the Indian flag at its headquarters in Nagpur. These days, it is merely politicising the tricolour. The BJP is incapable of even showing basic respect for the tricolour, โ€ he added.

The BJP has done all in its power since taking office to crush the hopes of those who fought and gave their lives for an independent India. It has been ignoring the underprivileged and concentrating primarily on funding the treasuries of its corporate allies said the Samajwadi leader Akhilesh Yadav.
