Mumbai: After a nationwide protest against the Metro car shed which was initially decided to be constructed in Aarey by the Devendra Fadnavis government in 2019 and later shifted in Kanjurmarg by the MVA government and now reversed by the Shinde-Fadnavis government back to the green lungs of Mumbai, the Mumbai traffic police has informed the commuters that “Aarey Road has been temporarily restricted to vehicular traffic today from 00.01 to 24.00 hrs due to ongoing work by MMRC & MCGM. Kindly use JVLR to commute to Powai/Marol and vice versa.”

Police have been deployed in large numbers and the area has been barricaded.

Many commuters complained of traffic congestion due to the sudden roadblock.

However, one of the residents in Aarey told HW News that the felling of trees have began outside the car shed area.

The source also said one of the protesters Tabrez Sayed has been detained by the Aarey police.

A copy of the summon, that HW News has accessed has been attached below.

The activists allege that the trees are being cut so that Train cars could be transported.
