Mr Prasad’s video has now gone viral, with netizens asking him to prepare arguments in advance before claiming anything on television.

In business, a unicorn is a privately held startup company valued at over US$1 billion. The term is used in the context of valuation of the company, and not revenue, as claimed by Mr Prasad.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, taking a jibe at the BJP leader, wrote on Twitter: “BJP leaders have difficulty in learning the difference between revenue & valuation. Then they preach to @RahulGandhi, who does know the meaning of “unicorn”, unlike those sent to lecture him about it.”

Congress spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh tweeted, “This gentleman has been the IT and Law Minister of the country for 5 years (2016-21). @rsprasad Ji, UNICORN does not mean your revenue, but your valuation has reached one billion dollars. Now we can understand what would have happened to the IT sector of the country in five years.”

Another Twitter user said a “new definition of unicorn has come to the market”.
